Chapter 4 - The Making Money Package


Now we are going to talk about the products. The TV show Making Money was heavily on late night TV, all over the country on many different channels. I heard they spent about $250,000 a week on TV advertising. The result was the sale of about 3000 Making Money packages for $39.95, plus S & H. That equalled about $120,000 - but it was what we call a 'loss leader'. You see, those 3000 leads would be parceled out to the Account Executives to sell more products invented by the King of the Infomrecials - Mr. Don Lapre.

Those are the leads we were given, but they were not on white paper. The ones we received were on colored paper. The color of the paper reflected how old the leads were. The white colored paper was red hot fresh paper. Much more valuable than Platinum! Recycled leads would be purple. They would be given two weeks later, after it was released as fresh paper. Older than that might be yellow, pink, etc. Even the older leads could be worth a lot of money to the company, and of course, the Account Executive.
The Making Money Package basically told the story of Don Lapre and his start in a one bedroom apartment. He placed 'tiny little classified ads' in newspapers all over the country selling things, and his claims were that he made $50,000 a week from his one bedroom apartment. Basically, he was saying he could sell anything, and if you bought his MMP you could learn how to sell things too. An education in Marketing as it were. Don truly could sell anything. He was a Marketing Genius. Running a company, well... I don't want to give away the ending.

It once took me 9 months to sell a client. I called him once a month for 9 months straight, and on the 9th month - $715 - I sold him the $1431 package for half now, half later promotion!
